Beautiful, small boutique hotel in great location off the Ring road route near Skógafoss and 30 min from Dyrhólaey and black sand beach. Staff is lovely and dinner is great. It is somewhat isolated so dining at the hotel is the easiest as it’s probably a 40 minute drive to Vik. There is a 15 min private walk on property to black sand beach with virtually no one in sight for miles - stunning. At night horses came from the nearby farm to drink from the little pond outside our window and guests were feeding them. A great, peaceful hotel.

Adorable family owned hotel! The staffed and food was great! The walking trail to the beach took about 15 minutes one way and was definitely worth the walk. Overall great hotel in Iceland. High recommend.

Beautiful boutique hotel in a stunning location! The service provided by the team was above and beyond. So grateful for the “wake up call” service when the Northern Lights were present as this was a bucket list experience for me. Excellent area to stay for exploring the waterfalls, exploring Vik and going on a glacier excursion. I highly recommend and thank you to Umi for a dreamy stay!

Excellent first class hotel.

Wonderful stay at Umi. Staff were very friendly, warm and welcoming and very helpful. Particularly in notifying when the Lights appeared. Hotel is in a stunning location. Hotel is fantastic! Restaurant was also great, good food and great service. Cannot find any fault! Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!

UMI hotel was by far the most magical stay during our trip. Sometimes pictures of a hotel don’t align in real-life, in this case the UMI hotel was actually better than pictured. The location is perfect for those seeing the south of Iceland. The hotel itself if only a 15 min walk to a quiet beach, and the neighbors horses are frequent visitors, which was a bonus for me. The hotel does wake up calls for the northern lights, and we got to experience them both nights of our stay (very end of October). Their dinner menu is is broad enough to keep you interested for multiple nights, they have a great breakfast spread which is included, and I love their little bar/lounge for an after dinner drink. The rooms are modern and clean and beds and pillows are very comfortable. And on top go all that a great staff. Overall wonderful experience and would stay there again in a heartbeat.
