Considering the prices of hotels/hostels in Utrecht and its location, its a pretty good deal. The rooms are barebone but clean and spacious enough (as far as the private ones go). I would stay there again, but keep in mind its no frills!

We had the six bed room with private bathroom. While spacious, the room was freezing with cold air blowing on us in the middle of winter. There were two showers but one was not useable because of the smell.

This hostel is the perfect place for a weekend in Utrecht. We were 2 friend with 3 kids under 4 years old and the personnel was extremely kind to us. The structure is well equipped to host kids, they have high chairs for breakfast and also baby cots upon request. Cannot recommend enough.

Great location ! We had a room overlooking the main square which was great for people watching. Only an 8 minute walk to the train station. Loved that they had laundry facilities on site. Very pleased with this property. We decided to try a hostel for one night during our trip to let our kids see a hostel. We were so pleasantly surprised by this hostel. We did pay for upgrades like linen service and towels and Kate check out. Worth it to us. It was nicer than all our much more expensive hotels in three cities in Belgium. The location was fantastic. The service was great. We loved the little restaurant and bar connected to it and used their games. We would all stay here again.

Walked in and noticed windows did not open. We went out to have something to eat. When we came back in our room we had to go downstairs to talk to front desk saying there was absolutely INSUFFICIENT AIRFLOW IN ROOM maintaining basic quality and promoting a healthy living environment. Seemed air exchanger located near ceiling was not working. Staff went downstairs to get us a cheap tripod fan which was very VERY noisy. How smart !! WILL NEVER NEVER BOOK AGAIN WITH STAYOKAY ! NEXT TIME, WE WILL CHECK ROOM BEFORE PAYING STATEMENT BECAUSE THERE IS NO DISCLOSER ON STAYOKAY'S WEBSITE SAYING WINDOWS DO NOT OPEN. ALSO VERY UNSAFE IN CASE OF FIRE ! WHAT A SHAME !

Enjoyable stay, uneven room temperature

This was a good value overnight stay for central Utrecht, and great to have the private bathroom facilities. The room only has floor radiator that you can control, but I found it would only heat the side of the room nearest to it and not the rest of the room towards the bathroom. It wasn't a terrible issue, but a little irritating to be so cold everytime you walked to and from the bathroom. Aside from that, there was a great view to the square from my room (#105) and a nice lounge area in the common space outside the room to work from or relax.
