Lovely clean room, great breakfast and very helpful reception. Great location and views across Exeter.

Stunning views and great location

Reception team very friendly and helpful, breakfast was a wide variety and staff again very pleasant My only qualm is that the hotel list as swimming pool with no note or asteroid of extra charges. It cost £7.50 for me and my son to swim.

Rooms are small but adequate. The facilities are great for what they are. Breakfast was good. Staff were really friendly and welcoming. Its great dor a quick stop but anything more than a few nights it could be uncomfortable.

Holland Hall very good value.

The rooms we had were a big step above the student rooms we had back in the 1980's although they could benefit from better ventilation in hot weather. The fact they had ensuite facilities and lifts helped greatly. The breakfast was very good indeed and the staff very professional and friendly.

The University Accommodation was very clean and well cared for. The Staff were very polite and helpful. The room was clean and very acceptable. You do need to bring all your own essentials as toiletries are limited to hand soap. Don’t forget a hairdryer if you need one. Breakfast was most appealing.

A first for me

You get what you pay for but no complaints at all. The staff we came across were friendly and helpful. Our room was basic and clean but had what we needed. Breakfast is self service . Good choice and great views across the valley. It’s a good 10 minutes walk from the train station, all up hill so a taxi may be needed if you mobility is not too good.

Great value and well situated for the Uni

Great value and perfect because I needed accommodation while taking a 2 day course on campus. Rooms are fairly basic and not roomy - fine for a couple of nights, but just a bed, shower room and desk, and without much space. Breakfast was fine but again, nothing fancy - self service bacon, eggs, cereal. The reception staff were all really kind and helpful - sympathetic when I arrived hot and flustered, helpful with questions about parking and the campus. A kind helpful attitude counts for a LOT. I would definitely stay again for the price and convenience, but I wouldn't treat it as a holiday base due to the lack of space.

Pricey for a small room with no TV but clean and quite comfortable. Excellent breakfast but no other meals available.

A very good experience

It is a nice experience. The condition and cleanliness of the room is good. It would be perfect if there was an electric fan in the room during the summer time.

Peaceful Stay at Holland Hall

I stayed here again after four years—back then we were in Clydesdale Court, and this time we chose the guest rooms in Holland Hall. The campus was beautifully quiet during term break, and the staff were as friendly and helpful as ever. My room was simple yet spotless, with a lovely view. The bathroom was spacious and the shower had excellent water pressure—just be mindful of the wet floor afterward. If you need a hairdryer or other small extras, simply ask at reception. Despite a large academic conference onsite, check‑in, breakfast, and every aspect of my stay ran smoothly. Breakfast was excellent, and the dining hall is spacious with its own pleasant outlook. There’s also a cozy social area beside reception—both indoors and outdoors—which is perfect for relaxing. All in all, a peaceful, nice stay—I’d happily return again.

A very pleasant stay but overpriced

Very clean room and the campus is beautiful. The breakfast was good - lots of choice. Service was very good -staff all very helpful. However the bedlinen was cheap and scratchy and the room was as you would expect - an empty student room. This would be fine if the rate was not identical to hotels in Exeter which would provide more more comfortable surroundings and quality bedlinen.

Graduation visit.

We stayed for graduation as it was on the university campus. There are a lot of stairs so don't stay there if you have any mobility issues. Also it is a bit of a maze so easy to get lost and parking was a bit tricky although this may have been because it was graduation. The breakfast was nice and there was plenty of choice. The bed was comfortable too! Nice as a budget option.

10/10 Exceptional

Fantastic option for a reasonably priced couple of nights stay! Basic student accommodation with no frills. Water piping hot and room spotlessly clean. Staff were more than helpful and looked after me very well. The buffet breakfast was great and a good selection. Some gluten free options are available. It’s about a 20 - 30 minute walk (I walk quite fast) from the station and also to town. NB there is a very steep hill to the campus so if you’re pulling a suitcase it could be wise to take a taxi from the station! So if you’re looking for a cheap overnight stay with no frills but safe, clean and comfortable- then this option is ideal! Plenty of tea and coffee is available. Hairdryers are available upon request. Loved it’

2/10 Poor

Toilet did not work and the water pressure for shower was very poor. Very disappointing.
Purvi, 1-night trip

4/10 Fair

OK but not in hot weather

On the plus side the parking was good and there were nice views. However it is very institutional - no flexibility about check in, breakfast chaotic as though they were not used to catering for more than just a few people and absolutely sweltering rooms. A small fan just moved the hot air round and the windows hardly opened. Not a good place in hot weather. No room servicing, even though an email said it would happen.

Clean and simple place to stay, the breakfast was great and the gym and pool were brilliant too

6/10 Good

Carpet disgusting

Good points first: bed comfortable Good breakfast Shower hot But the reason this gets such a low rating is the carpet absolutely stank. I saw it was new carpet in the hallways but the room carpets desperately need replacing. I tried dousing it with body spray to no avail, but it really marred my stay. I feel for the poor student that gets this hall in term time.

Aged and not great!

The room was far smaller than appeared in the picture, halls are dated, bathroom is not well aired and not stocked even with a bathmat. Woodwork is peeling and room is stuffy, bed is small for 2 people and parking is unnecessarily far away when campus is empty. Breakfast staff and unfriendly and militant. Won’t be using services again and this is a shame as was really looking forward to experiencing campus and being so central.

Basic but nice

So staff are really friendly and polite and super helpful. We did have some spiders n cobwebs up in the corners and a questionalble stain on one wall which i removed with a wet wipe. Towels and toilet roll is plentiful and there seems to be lots of parking too. Nice social areas Fabulous breakfast options too. Easy walk downhill to the town and pubs but you'll want an uber for back up its one heck of a climb 347ft to be accurate! Id stay again as it was a really comfy bed too. Some signs of wear on the bathroom door and wardrobe but she was built back in the early 00s so shes doing alright as buildings go.
