Spa hotel in North Yorkshire

Lovely hotel in the very quaint Helmsley - our suite with a balcony overlooking the pool and hot tub was fabulous and spacious. All the team were friendly, efficient and courteous and very responsive. Complimentary parking and plenty of spaces was very welcome- always a plus .

The property is a little ran down and in need of some modernisation for example room interiors and pool need a few new tiles and grouting. Overall very relaxing, however, I would think twice about returning due to the cost and standard of the place. Especially how we had to pay extra for a walk in shower due to my partner being pregnant.

The place is lovely but unfortunately the pool was far too cold to swim in, especially in the winter months. That was one of the main reasons for choosing this hotel.

Fantastic hotel and location

Fantastic hotel and location. We stayed in a suite overlooking the pool. A real sun trap, it was like we were in the med! Swam and enjoyed the outdoor spa. Luxurious, can’t fault it. Highly recommend

We stayed for two nights and our stay was fantastic. The rooms were spacious and clean, which had a bath as well a separate shower. Staff were very attentive, and the food was possibly the best we have ever had, it was amazing! First time here and we will definitely be back in the future. Liam & Lewis (Room 27).

The perfect getaway

Perfect place, automatic upgrade with it being my husband’s birthday. The only little downside for us was the food. It was very fancy! Alacarte. We prefer more simple haha, but if you like that sort of food then it’s perfect. Staff all amazing!

Very good hotel in excellent location for Helmsley with great spa facilities. Slightly disappointed with quality of cleaning of room with no drinks or toiletry replenishment after the first nights stay. Good breakfast but food slow coming out of kitchen, not the waiting staffs fault though. Lovely lounges and excellent bar with helpful and welcoming staff.

A Perfect Anniversary Escape in Serendipity – Every Detail Considered We stayed in Room 15, Serendipity, to celebrate our 10-year wedding anniversary, and the experience was flawless from start to finish. Thoughtful touches like welcome chocolates and a personalised congratulations message made us feel truly valued. Dinner was superb — beautifully presented with outstanding flavours — and followed by a surprise delivery of celebratory truffles. Serendipity offered direct poolside access via a private staircase, allowing us to step straight out into the sunshine for a relaxing afternoon with cocktails — the Hugo Spritz was a standout. Every member of staff we encountered was warm, professional, and attentive, and the spa provided just the right atmosphere to unwind. The personal touches really made us feel celebrated, and it’s clear the team takes genuine pride in the guest experience. The breakfasts and breakfast dining room staff were very good. However the dining room was cold and music seemed to be playing incessantly - hardly a peaceful setting for the first meal of the day. The bedroom was also cold and I think the lack of quality control of the hotel environment is a real issue. Although staff were helpful and charming for me the hotel lacked a cosy atmosphere and no one seem d to be in charge

Had a lovely stay. Staff very welcoming. Loved the pool in the sunshine. Loved our pool suite. Could do with keeping the pool more free of bugs during the day time at busy times. Improvements could be to have some soft spa music around the pool. Improvement could be made at breakfast, the help your self bit felt a little scruffy. Would return as minus the few little bits we really enjoyed our stay

Noisy kids

Very nice overnight stay, hotel nice and clean just a couple of constructive criticisms We stayed in a poolside suite, but couldn’t get round the pool as there are not enough loungers , plenty of chairs Also what chairs and loungers the were were taken by people putting towels down and leaving them Plus a large family was very noisy in the pool especially the kids and for a spa break it spoilt the relaxation Food very good

Perfection

We have just had a really lovely family weekend at the Feversham Arms. It was a birthday celebration for our daughter and also a pre-Christmas treat for all of us. Everything about the hotel and spa was pretty-near excellent - and, without exception, the staff were more than excellent: so friendly and so helpful all the time. Thank you everyone for making our stay perfect. Oh - and Helmsley is such a beautiful and atmospheric place at this time of year - a Christmas movie set (but even better) come to life!

Underwhelmed

This was on my bucket list and sadly the room let us down. We stayed in a classic double room (only type available at the time of booking) which was not worth £200 a night. Old terrible pine furniture and terrible grey paint in the bathroom. Carpet was old and needed replacing and the 'wardrobe' was a cupboard that didn't close. However the service was fantastic and the staff were all friendly and excellent. I loved the outdoor pool and spa facilities (very busy at check in time). Dog friendly hotel but overall, not the 'wow' I was expecting.

Great stay

We had a great few days at the hotel. Being able to use the pool and outside area at the end of a day out was perfect on the sunny days we had. Breakfast was good and had a number of options and the evening meal we had was good but would recommend trying some of the other options in Helmsley, particularly Bantam. The main part of the hotel was very nice, however our room didn’t quite live up to this. Although there were signs it had been updated, some fixtures were clearly old, such as the loose door handle and ripped wallpaper. Also we had booked a main building room which the website indicated most have king sized beds. Ours didn’t and the mattress felt like it needed replacing. It’s a bit disappointing to go somewhere like this and be missing your bed at home so if this is something that’s important to you then I’d suggest contacting them ahead of your stay. The underground car park became busier during our stay and we couldn’t find space on our last 2 nights but managed to find nearby parking however at peak times in the summer could imagine this being more of an issue.
