We celebrated our wedding whilst staying here on our honeymoon it was so comfortable food was really nice good choice for breakfast and staff couldn't do enough would definitely recommend 😊

2/10 Poor

Poor

Upon checking in, the room registered 32c degrees on my phone with no air con or fan. Security wise, the bathroom window was held open by a chock of wood, ground floor. Pretty unacceptable heat wise and security wise. I was not able to use the room and booked into another hotel nearby.

The Dolphin was a wonderful place to stay in Whitby. We had a wonderful time, and the staff could not have been more accommodating! It was the perfect location and within walking distance of shops, restaurants, the Abbey and beach. I loved the pub and outside front patio. Everyone was friendly.

Property is very central for Whitby. Pay and display car park, is very close. Go to Tourist Information, to obtain a car parking permit which is slightly cheaper than feeding the meter every day.

Not Dog Friendly

We had booked this as part of our 7 day trip in the UK with our dog. It was listed as pet friendly under services. After check in I received a phone call from the woman manager stating that there was a problem as dogs are not allowed in the rooms. I ensured them that on Expedia it indicates "dog friendly" and verified this. She said I never indicated I was bringing a dog however in special requests I wrote "Hi we will be bringing our dog" They were not pleased and said they would need to figure something out but since I had already paid they would not kick us out but maybe charge us a cleaning fee When we returned the woman and the grumpy husband were discussing this. He seemed quite angry and never once reassured us other then to say you will never find a hotel in the UK that will allow dogs. The woman seemed at least hospitable to some degree. I even mentioned I was willing to leave if she refunded my money. We were quite disappointed with their reaction to the situation and most definitely with the man's who seemed miserable. We decided to leave as soon as possible in the morning and even avoided breakfast just to leave. As for the rooms the smell was a little off especially in the wardrobe which had a terrible smell to it so we refused to hang our clothes. The location is central but remember it is a pub and a popular pub so we had some annoying young drunk kids and a pile of vomit at the entrance to avoid on the way back in. Not impressed by the way it was handled.

Excellent

Great location, room had a lovely view and staff were very welcoming and friendly. Nice comfortable bed, great breakfast. Maybe could do with a lick of paint but would definitely stay here again.

4/10 Fair

Not a great choice

Booked a room with a bath but didn’t get that I got a room with a small bathroom, the shower was tiny with mould in parts. The room was okay but very dated and needs a complete renovation as does the whole hotel. It was quite expensive and the reviews I had read were good so I was really disappointed. We didn’t stay for breakfast as we just wanted to leave.

Perfect location. Traditional hotel. Breakfast included and cooked to order. Restaurant on site with good choice. Five minutes from train station. Have stayed previously and would return. Stayed in Room 6 - fab view.

Lovely Place to Stay

The hotel was in a great part of Edinburgh making it easy to walk places. We loved how the building fit in with old Edinburgh. The breakfast was delicious. Being able to store our luggage between checkout and when we caught the train gave us an extra half day in town. We definitely recommend to anyone planning a stay in beautiful Edinburgh, Scotland.

Great location. Room was very nice size and up to date. Only negative is the parking is at the nearest public parking lot - if you can get a spot. But overall a good night at a great location.

Great location, spacious room with super views, helpful staff and best hotel breakfast my husband has had. Only fault- didn't like having no milk or bottled water in the room. However we would certainly visit the Dolphin again.
