Nice stay

Lovely hotel. Great rooms and great view. Staff super friendly & helpful. Service is very good. Great area, quiet and lovely hill near by. Just the downside was the bathroom cleanliness.

Amazing location, views and helpful staff. Food good too, breakfast and evening meals. Bedroom recently decorated, but bathroom fixtures a little tired. Shower door came off it's runners, which reception staff said has happened several times plus bathroom taps very stiff! (room 4)

Staff were very friendly, hotel appearance was welcoming, rooms were lovely, clean, well equipped with hair dryer, iron, extra pillows if needed. Breakfast was served in lovely room, the views from the hotel were amazing. We enjoyed our stay

A really lovely, quiet stay

Beautiful hotel grounds, staff are extremely friendly, rooms are very clean but a little dated - the bathtub and shower had very obvious signs of wear with cracked tiles, very old and outdated shower taps, stains and scratches on the bottom of the tub. The provided toiletries gels were a lovely quality (The White Company) and the view from the room was so gorgeous. The stay was quiet and we barely heard other guests or noise from outside. We would have liked a bigger bed for the room rate, although what was provided was comfortable. The TV and the provided fan need updating for it to be true luxury. The restaurant staff were so lovely, and the food was excellent! Drinks were of excellent choice too and my dirty martini was delicious. Definitely recommend eating and drinking on-site. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Overnight stay to break up a long journey to Cornwall. Great location and very pleasant surroundings. Great views over the valley. Only slight issue was our room had a double bed in whereas most nowadays have at least two singles pushed together which are a bit bigger but for what it was , I would recommend this hotel.

Very nice hotel

Very nice hotel. Service in the bar was excellent, and staff on reception very helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was fine, but could do with being updated at some point, but wouldn’t put me off from staying there again.

Very nice hotel, a little tired in places, nice early morning wake up by cleaners getting into the cleaning cupboard and getting ready. Comfy bed and pillows.

Lovely place, quiet area, lovely widespread views and friendly staff with comfortable surroundings. A little dated in places but within keeping of the buildings. Overall a great experience.

6/10 Good

Was okay, but the bath advertised in the pictures for the superior room wasn’t the one we got, also cigarette smoke kept coming down the hallway into our room from the main door

The only thing I missed was not having tea/ coffee making facilities in the room.

4/10 Fair

I arrived with a suitcase and a wheeled laptop bag and was assigned a room in a separate building up a stone set of steps, then two winding flights of narrow stairs with a wonky bannister. No lift. The reluctant receptionist literally said "I might be able to help you with a bag if you like", as I had no cash for a tip on me I declined. Being in my sixties, I had to lie down in the tiny beam obstructed room with no plug sockets near the bed for charging after that. It's a stunning location and the restaurant was great but this was all too much.

Extremely tired property. Terrible breakfast for £15. No staff at reception when checking out.

6/10 Good

A somewhat tired hotel (who puts light coloured carpets in a busy public area that badly need cleaning)? A great location and a good sleep however before a business meeting in the hotel... shocked to have to pay an extra £15 for a very average breakfast....No advance warning!!
Michael, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Bed not very comfortable. Water pressure in bathroom was not consistent sometimes the water took 30 seconds to come through after the tap was turned on. No lift in a 3 story building, staff didn’t offer to help with bags

Very disappointed, certainly not 4*

The hotel is tired and in need of refurbishment. The carpets in the hallways are worn and dirty. The fridge in the room was not working and the solution which came from the duty manager was to give me a bag of ice. Our room was small and had a large area of restricted headroom which caused several bumped heads. Several of the electrical sockets could not be accessed due to them being located behind a heavy desk. The en-suite had a lovely large bath but the plug did not seal. The room was not cheap and we were very disappointed.

Comfy bed but lethal bathroom

First the good points: - good nights sleep in comfy bed - were given a free upgrade to a larger room on the lower floor of the accomodation block - still up a big flight of stairs and separate from the main building (we were initially put up a further 2 floors and my other half really struggled with the stairs). Now the less good and problems: - the shower over the jacuzzi bath was lethal. The bath moved substantially under my feet, there was no handrail to hold onto whilst climbing in and out over very slippery surfaces and when I tried to shower in the morning it was far too hot as no cold water came through. My other half never dared risk it. - the hot water from the taps was scalding at times (others have said this and obviously no recommended temperature limiting system was fitted). - there is no lift necessitatimg climbing 3 flights of steps to the top floor - you have to walk outside to get to the main building We wouldn't recommend this hotel and won't be staying again.

Staff very friendly, breakfast was ridicuously expensive so didnt have it. Room was boiling and a fan was provided but the fan sounded like i had a motorbike in my room so had to turn it off within about 30 seconds. The outside of the hotel is beautiful though.
