A good choice

We used to take our children here years ago on riverside trips and were really pleased by our four night stay. Nice clean room with very big bed, relaxing pub, good food and a quiet location with plenty of free parking space. Staff are nice and helpful. We'll be back.

Good hotel with a nice view

We were pleased with our stay. We only stayed for a night. The food was nice, the bar/restaurant was busy but we still got our food reasonably fast. The view was beautiful. Shame we had no time to walk around. It was easy to find and there was plenty of parking.

The Unicorn is very convent for the reason we were down in Nottingham, we have stayed there on numerous occasions.

Pleasant short stay.

Had a small break with friends at the Unicorn and really enjoyed it.The rooms were fine but need updating which I was informed was happening soon.Breakfast was good and large open plan dining room and bar were very nice. For what we paid it was excellent value. It is overlooking the river and is a perfect spot for walkers. We all agreed we would stay here again.

We had a lovely time!

I stayed at The Unicorn with my 6 year old daughter for 2 midweek nights in August. The staff were amazing, especially Jackie and Hannah. The evening meal was great value and the continental breakfast was delicious! The bed was the most comfortable I think I've ever slept on. The building itself does need a little tidying up. The seals on the shower were a little grubby and some of the paintwork and carpets in the rooms were looking tired. The bar and food areas were lovely though. We had no problems getting our electric car charged and the little climbing frame in the beer garden round the back kept my little one entertained for ages.

Visiting Nottingham ? If so. Visit The Unicorn.

On arrival the first thing that strikes you is the building. With it being Christmas it was lit up and looked inviting. Inside we were not disappointed. Warm welcome at reception. Rooms located in corridors which are accessed via security doors. Excellent room with massive bed. Bed comfy and therefore great sleep quality. Room well furnished and spotlessly clean. Bathroom was fresh and looked to have been recently retiled. Shower cubicle was new but was on the small side. The food in the restaurant was very good as was the Marstons Pedigree. All the staff were helpful and polite. Will definitely be back.

Disappointing return

Stayed here before and looked forward to returning. Greal location by the River Trent. Unfortunately the hotel was seriously lacking in staff. Breakfast took 1.5 hours. Can't fault the ONE waiter, he tried his best but was overwhelmed. Ran out of bread by 9am, no cups, fruit juices. Food good when it arrived but cost us an hour. Again well done to the one waiter in tge restaurant, but get him some help!

Nice location

The room was comfortable. I ate in the restaurant, which was pleasant but my food was very late. When I chased, they had. An explanation - there was no coleslaw. I didn't want any anyway and would have appreciated the opportunity to let them know before my stomach thought my throat had been cut...! I was disturbed very early because of a burst pipe. It didn't affect me or my room, luckily. I think it's a nice hotel l and well placed for m my business trips. I will visit again and give them another shot. The staff were pleasant and tried to be helpful.

Not bad for the price

I arrived and spent over an hour in reception as the key to the room could not be found. I was offered free food and drink and the Asst Manager was excellent in trying to resolve the situation. The general manager was called but never showed up. All the staff worked well to be kind and helpful. The room was a bit disappointing, but you get what you pay for. The drainage system is terrible so the shower does not drain while you are in it. The heating was off on arrival, so it was cold and a bit un welcoming. The curtains were old and outdated and did close properly. I'm not sure there were better rooms as you're effectively staying above a pub. But it was clean. Thank you to the team for being so nice. Probably stay again!

2/10 Poor

Polite person on check in and apart from leaving the following morning them were the highlights of this hotel. I will remember the Unicorn for all the wrong reasons, imagine a room that hasnt been touched for the last 20 years plus but for the 30 minutes quick clean after every stay. Absolutely no evidence of a deep clean clean in this place. We got to the room, an absolute disgrace. Dusty - Dirty glasses on coffee tray - Dirty coffee cups - Dirty chrome plated light switch next to bed (disnt touch it) - Dirty black, aged grout in bathroom floor tiles - dirty bathroom tiles around the edges - Light bulbs different colour whites and some not illuminating and 1 in the bathroom flickering - Dirty head board (wall) please see the pictures, absolutley unbelivable... 30 minutes till our restaraunt reservation, bedding was clean so we grinned are bared it.... never ever again would I stay at this place ever ever again.. thos review is going to be sent to Mastons complsints department.. Please see pictures On check out, I was ready to voice my dissapointment on the room but then realised why there is a key box at the car park exit door, im sure they dont want to hear the complaints... Never ever again!!
