Awful

Awful hotel. Like a 70s murder scene. Dirty, uncomfortable, smelly - just don’t bother!

I gave 2 stars for staff as I believe it was a staff member who came into our hotel room Friday night
Christopher, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Overall the stay was good however just a couple of points 1: had to wait at reception although the restaurant was busy; 2: couldn't fill the kettle from the sink had to use the bath; 3: lack of extra pillows only one extra we did ask but non given and 4: coat hangers in the wardrobe Excellent food in the restaurant and all staff were very friendly and polite

Nice place but wifi could be better.

Nice enough hotel, a little tiredaround the edges. The main problem for me was the wifi was not brilliant, i could not attach large files on emails and watchinf a film was lagging all the time.

The Windmill Hotel

Arrived to no receptionist and had to ask in the restaurant. Found out they don’t serve breakfast anymore even though it says in info that it does. The rooms are very tired but clean enough, there were 13 plug sockets so can’t complain about that and there was no milk on the hospitality tray. Evening meal was fantastic but felt a little rushed.

The restaurant was brilliant. Beds comfy. Unfortunately there was black mould on the ceiling. And there was some sort of drainage outside the window so it wasn't the best view and smell. The price was very reasonable though so I guess you get what you pay for.

Poor

We were very disappointed with the fact that there was no room service even though we were there for four days. There was no plug in the sink, only one cup and bottle tops under the bed. The food was ok if you liked eating in a disco!!! On the other hand the staff were very friendly but we could not recommend this hotel.

You get what you pay for

There was very little staff presence. Took ages to go and find someone to check in. The room and bathroom were clean but the previous guests takeaway rubbish was in the cupboard in the room which stunk the room out. No one was around to check us out so we just left. I guess you get what you pay for.

First given a room with either chocolate or something trodden into the carpet. I then was given another room no towels no lamp no shower gel ect. Only a almost empty liquid soap , toilet had never seen bleach. The unmanned reception had the phone ringing constantly on loud speaker even woken early hours to the phone constantly ringing. Never again. However the restaurant food was absolutely spot on , absolutely brilliant. I'd definitely go back for food but not to stay over.

2/10 Poor

Stayed at the windmill on many occasions, room 5 we had and it was absolutely freezing, asked a member of staff when heating would come on he said 5pm and gave us a small heater, the heating didn't come on, most of the night we were freezing and they brought us another heater. We only had 2 bath towels no hand towels so they were wet and couldn't get them dry, took 2 hours for more towels. Only one extra pillow instead of 2 , ya couldn't sit on the toilet comfortably because the toilet paper holder was right next to it on the wall. The curtains didn't match, we couldn't connect to the wifi. As I said Been there about 8 times now and it's really put me off going again.

Not good

Not a good experience. Woken at 3:30 am by someone trying to get in to our room and then the next night by fire alarm at 3am. Pillows wore about 1 inch thick and no extra ones in room. No bed side light. Black mould in bathroom. Car park of a good size with well sized spaces.

8/10 Very good

Room was a bit dated but very clean and tidy. The bathroom needed updating.but that was very clean too. The towels wree very good quality, overall for the price we paid it was ŵorth it.

First room had issues however quickly sorted and swapped into a new room. For £60 it was as expected - ok for a business type stay but not somewhere to stay for a romantic break...

Avoid the hotel at all costs

The food in the restaurant area is reasonable, good price and portions. Some staff have a poor grasp of English. The location attracts a lot of lower-class people, for some reason (probably the food portion size and prices). The hotel itself is grim to terrible. I would not recommend this as a suitable location for someone on a business trip, unless your business is dealing drugs, in which case it's perfect. Especially for those rendezvous where you need to move suspicious packages between vehicles in the car park, avoiding the undercover police officers and observation/evidence gathering cameras (which there must be, judging by the clientele). Someone tried getting into my room in the middle of the night, and I noticed the handle was damaged in the morning. The beds were not made, and shower soap was just shampoo. When I came back to my room in the afternoon, the door to my room was slightly ajar; someone had been in and not closed it properly (I suspect housekeeping; however, there was not much housekeeping done). It was a good job I had taken my valuables/laptop, etc, with me, else I suspect this would have gone. There was no point making any complaints as I felt it would fall on deaf ears and nothing they hadn't heard before. My fault because you pay for what you get in life, and for £50 per night, I only have myself to blame...... never again

Not a great place

Rooms were dirty, no towels in room, floors were dirty, people talking and disturbing at 4am. Banging doors. Staff obstructive about having a drink at 10pm staff said bar was shut until.we explained we were residents
Daryl, 2-night trip

room was damp with paint peeling from walls, damp stains on ceiling, holes in bedsheets, tiny wash basin, no safe, small TV & the kettle was left with water in it which isn't good.
