We were looking for a pet-free hotel, as those usually have less odor in the rooms. The description of this Holiday Inn Express did not mention that it is pet-friendly, but apparently, for $30 you can bring your four-legged family member. I have nothing against pets or their owners, but I prefer staying in hotels that do not allow animals, so this should really be clearly stated in the hotel’s description to help travelers like us make an informed choice.
We had to swap rooms twice before finding one that didn’t smell like urine or have a musty odor. The final room we settled on still had issues — the toilet seat was not properly cleaned. We ended up cleaning it ourselves since the housekeeping staff, though polite, didn’t actually fix the issue when asked.
On the positive side, the amenities appear new, the bathroom is in good condition, and the towels and sheets were clean with no unpleasant odors from the pillows.
Overall, this hotel has potential, but it really needs to:
Clearly disclose its pet-friendly policy
Improve room cleanliness and inspection standards.
We typically stay staying in Holiday Inn because it usually keep itself to a higher standards.
