A lovely place to stay

Stunning location. A very grand feel to the place inside and out although it needs a refurb in parts but not desperately. Lovely breakfast and good quality tea and coffee in room.

Amazing staff and service.

The staff and service can not be faulted here, everyone was so friendly and helpful and the place is beautiful with their 3 gardens and plenty of places to sit and enjoy the views. Restaurants served good food and they have 24 hour room service!

Exceeded our expectations.

From the moment we arrived all the staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room was of a good size, lovely views and very clean. We had an evening meal in the dining room, which was of excellent quality. The ambience in the restaurant was lovely. We were not disappointed, in fact Hotel and staff exceeded our expectations. The grounds, including the country club, it’s worth walking around. The Ashdown Forest is a very beautiful setting , lots of walks.
Jeffrey, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

Absolutely beautiful place with stunning views and amazing architecture. Breakfast is brilliant- huge variety of cooked (to order) food as well as continental buffet. Staff are helpful and friendly. Only cons are 1) location - be prepared for the narrow country lanes!! But seriously you may struggle to get phone service, food delivery and nearest taxi will be 20 mins away 2) no aircon - we went in September so not really an issue but can imagine this to be a problem in summer. 3) Room service - no menu, limited availability and takes ages However these weren’t huge issues annd overall we really enjoyed our stay and found our way around the limited issues mentioned above. Would definitely stay again.

My husband and I enjoyed everything about our stay at Ashdown Park Hotel. The team are super friendly, our room was lovely and very clean and luxurious. The grounds are well kept and a pleasure to stroll around. There are good fitness facilities, however we were there for a romantic trip. We had a lovely evening meal, but feel that there could have been more choice. The breakfast was delicious and well made. Thank you to the whole team for making our stay special.

Best Full English breakfast !

Room large & comfortable. The Full English breakfast was the best I have had for a long time! I stay in at least one hotel nearly every week so I'm in a position to judge!

What I liked: The views and nature. Did not like: On site is restaurant is way over priced for the quality golf equipment is old and worn out Pay for 4 star luxury and get 3 star results

8/10 Very good

In fact a very good, nice and relaxing hotel with a very good restaurant, serving very good prepared quality food. Only, the service in restaurant, was below average. The quantity of servers seemed more important than their quality.
Peter, 3-night trip

6/10 Good

Wish we’d stayed elsewhere

Shabby, dirty, poor service, broken jacuzzi , not really a spa (no sauna or steam room) and items added to restaurant bill that were not delivered as they didn’t have them!
Stuart, 1-night trip

Average stay

Pretty average. Place is showing signs of tiredness. Could do with an update throughout.
1-night trip

8/10 Very good

We stayed here for a wedding..the grounds and property are absolutely picturesque but the rooms are from the 80s pink carpets and green sofas was like being in a care home for the night. Also had no hot water and we wasn't the only ones who complained about this.
Ray, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

This is my 4th visit. The building and lands around it are still gorgeous but the amenities seem to have gone down a little. They no longer have the steam room in the ladies changing room which is a real shame and their spa treatments are just way too expensive, so unfortunately we gave them a miss this time.
Fathima, 1-night trip

Great stay

Second time staying here...first time Nov 21...enjoyed as much as then. Arrived at 1130 and can use Spa facilities before check-in time... however our room was ready on arrival so we put bags in room and then went off to Spa area Difference in breakfast set up..last time was menu choices taken at table...now buffet help yourself, however just as delicious and lots to chose from...cooked full English, fresh fruits yoghurts. Cereals pastries cheeses smoked salmon, juices .. tea coffee snd toasts bought to your table. . Staff very attentive over the weekend . Bed turn down service in evening very nice touch.

Fabulous buillding

Fabulous building in wonderful parkland. We enjoyed swimming pool, gym, jacuzzi and tennis. They had no sauna nor steam room. Our bedroom was nicely decorated and lovely. Breakfast was excelent. We could choose anything we wanted. The only negatives were that they forgot to put bathrobes in our room. Shampoo and bathgel were not quite enought for two people. I didn't ask for more as we had shower at the swiming pool. All in all it was memorable experinece.
Noriko, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Overall we had a nice time. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food and drinks were good. Our stay was however impacted by the fact that the room hadn't been cleaned when we entered (a mis-communication between Front Desk and Housekeeping I think they said) and that the bed was broken, which obviously we didn't find out until bedtime. There was also cobwebs and dirt in places that you wouldn't expect if a thorough inspection of these sorts of things was being done - e.g. chandeliers in the fancy dining room and what looked like dried blood over the wall in the downstairs ladies toilets. So overall it felt like the bones of the hotel were good, but more attention was needed to the detail, as it's not a cheap place to stay.
Samantha, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

We come to this hotel quite frequently but this is the first time we booked through Expedia. Not Expedia's fault but the room we had was a tiny one with a small double bed, the TV remote didn't work properly so had to press the buttons on the TV, the shower control fell off. We have had a good experience in the past, but this time fell well below the level we have had in the past for the money we spent. The restaurant was excellent as ever, although there was one waiter who seemed very eager to please, almost un-genuine. Difficult to say, but I certainly don't expect anyone to bow to me at a hotel.
Jean-Philippe, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

We did not like having to climb numerous stairs with no lift available ( not even a service lift which less able walkers could have used ) The Saturday morning breakfast arrangements were a disgrace. At the price paid we do not expect to have to join a slow line with very limited choice food available served slowly by one single schoolboy on a long table at the end of that line. It is a great shame that very limited staffing is spoiling your offering in this way because Dinner on the Friday night was good.
James, 1-night trip
