Small town getaway

My husband and I pick a small town to visit every year in December. We picked Lititz this year and had a very nice stay at The Alden House. When we go back to Liitz, we will definitely stay here again.

I went here this past weekend 10/25 through 10/27and my wife and I had a great time. The breakfast served was delicious and we enjoyed the convenience of the location to the cute shops in the area. We will definitely be back and I’m encouraging my in-laws to take a weekend trip as well however she would need something on the 1st floor.

Pennsylvania Get-away.

Our first time staying here. It was wonderful. Our hosts, Jeff and Brian, were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. We had a suite on the 2nd floor that opened onto a balcony overlooking the patio and pond. There is also a large side porch on the first floor, with tables and chairs, a perfect gathering spot to interact with other visitors. The breakfasts were delicious and filling. Lititz is a wonderful town with plenty of shopping and places to dine, and close to Lancaster, Gettysburg and the Amish countryside. We enjoyed our stay very much, and will be making a return visit.

Great Place to Stay

Alden House is an awesome place to stay and this was the second time staying there. Lititz has so much to offer as a town and i highly recommend staying at the Alden House.

Do your research! No pictures are a good indicator of "things" not being as you might expect. There was NO common/sitting area. I was looking forward to that/chatting with guests (as I've done in many other bnbs) and not having to stay up in my room. Even a hotel has a lobby area! Disappointing. My room was up a steep stairway. While very large and nice, it was noisy (front room/on busy street) until well after midnight. It also only had two lamps - which made it very dark/dim at nighttime. And, though warm fall nights - the room was really cold even with the little heater on. Bed was okay. They needed a comforter or better blanket as this one smelled like my grandmother's basement (musty/mothballs). Ew. And, the kicker - my bathroom, while private, was up another 14 steep stairs! I have really bad knees. I asked to see if anyone else would like to change rooms with me - and they said they wouldn't do that. Nor would they cancel my second night. The stairs were a LOT for me. Also ... my opinion is, if you have a bnb and aren't an excellent cook - then hire someone who is. Breakfasts both days were ... meh. Side porch was nice. I've stayed at many bnbs ... sadly, would not recommend.
