8/10 Very good

Location good, value questionable

Good location, but expensive for the size of the rooms especially considering there were no staff on site.

Loved the hotel!

The stay was amazing and it was convenient since it was by everything. I loved the bar downstairs and the people were friendly. Just the fire alarm was the issue but it was resolved in a timely manner.

6/10 Good

Great location but its contactless entry and with many errors it took us 45 mins to gain access so the process was challenging
Liza, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

The room was great! The area was incredible! It’s not a traditional hotel where you can get room service and stuff but there are plenty of restaurants/bars in the area. There was a strange flashing red light in the room in the middle of the night. I don’t know what that was about but everything was fine
Stacey, 1-night trip

4/10 Fair

With no on-site storage, if you have a late flight home and need to check out at 11am, nowhere to store your luggage. Our room was directly above the Bar that is open and has loitering outside by drunk/rowdy patrons until 3am. This should be disclosed by Hotel prior to booking room #201
James M, 3-night trip

6/10 Good

Poor customer service.

The virtual part of this worked against them.
Jay, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

My room was very small with little floor space and extremely noisy (coming from the street, the next room and the room above). The neighborhood was excellent, the shower was very nice, the small balcony was pleasant, the rooftop lounge had wonderful views and the bed was extremely comfortable. Thank goodness because the room was ALL bed. Didn’t love not having someone on the premises to resolve any issues. Communication was mostly via email and text which was frustrating. Perhaps it was my oversight but I was not aware that there was no front desk at the property until I had already booked. (Impossible to reverse!) For the price I’d prefer to have a front desk.

Beautiful and comfortable

It’s a beautiful, modern room. Quiet and cosy. The bed was very comfortable. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby.
Susan, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Nice hotel, could be more thorough with cleaning.

Everything was good, except the room had some sawdust from construction (?) and had to clean up cigarette mess from the porch from someone else.

Epic rainfall shower

One of my favorite hotels of all time. Very convenient and is by everything. The staff is very nice and I love the bar downstairs.
Damien, 3-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Loved this place! Perfect location, size and layout plus so many modern additions like Google TVs and hub. So much attention to detail overall. Will definitely stay here again when Im lucky enough to get back to SF! There's only one very small critique and that's the shower water pressure could be a little stronger but it was sufficient as is.

Overnight stay

Cozy and clean. But the walls are thin, I heard people talking and playing music all night . Close to restaurants and bars. Pretty safe to walk outside at night.

Great location to many lgbtqia stores, restaurants, bars and clubs. The hotel is cute and secure! very walkable to everything we wanted to do.

Great stay

Really enjoyed our stay here. Great location, cute hotel. Already looking forward to coming back.

8/10 Very good

Decent place in the Castro

Very compact room. Glad I was traveling solo as I felt two people in the room would have been too tight. There was noise from the bar underneath the hotel and on the street that facilitated the need for white noise to drown it out if trying to go to bed before 1am. Location is great to everything in the Castro.

Great location! Rooms are small but otherwise nice. It makes a great stay for a good value!

Small But Cute Boutique Room

Visiting family for Thanksgiving and decided to fly in early to get a little SF getaway squeezed in. First, the location is AMAZING! Right in the heart of the Castro district. We are a gay couple, so this was heaven. Shopping, restaurants, clubs - all within a few blocks. And of course Muni is right there to get to other parts of the city easily. The room was (very) small but super cute! The decor was amazing. And very well laid out given its size. The size is an issue however - we couldn’t fully unpack since there was no room to put things. So if you are staying for a longer period of time, you may find it a bit uncomfortable. (we only stayed 2 nights). This also isn’t a regular hotel. It’s more like an Air BnB situation. There is no front desk. But there is a bar next door that apparently serves as the front desk. Just a heads up if you’re looking for a more traditional hotel experience. Overall we will definitely be staying here again when we come to SF.
Manny, 3-night trip

2/10 Poor

Mark's gripe

There is no parking anywhere near the hotel. I was told to use an app called SpotHero to find a space, but that app only deals with hourly and monthly parking, no overnight parking. There is no lobby in the hotel, so there is no one at the front desk who can give help and advice. There are no refrigerators or closets in the room. Give the Hotel Castro a miss.

Great location. Check in easier than I expected. Would stay again.

Jairo, 3-night trip

8/10 Very good

Nice stay but not a fan of remote front desk

My mother and mother in law needed a place to crash around the corner from where we lived, and this was the closest property. Pros- great location, comfortable room, beautiful view from rooftop terrace. Cons- if you’re not tech savvy, the self check in and navigating the rooms/elevators is tricky. The elevator code didn’t work at first, which required a call to Kasa to fix. I consider myself pretty tech savvy and even I felt a little lost. Took a little bit of figuring out the blinds and lights as well. If I hadn’t been helping my relatives they would have had trouble getting in. So, great hotel and spot, but too reliant on remotely operated self check in/out. If you’re super tech savvy probably not an issue

Great location. Service could be better.

This is an unattended hotel, which is good, but when I asked for a toilet brush, I was told I could purchase one nearby.
