Great location, comfortable city hotel

Great location, easy walk to city centre and public transport rail stations etc. hotel is comfortable, staff are very helpful. Hotel is lovely from outside, but interiors are a little 'tired' and could do with a freshen up.

Great stay in a central location.

Fantastic check in and help with directions - thank you Shirley . Plenty of parking and easy to access the hotel from the car park. Lovely room, spacious, well maintained and looks recently renovated. I requested a quiet room and this certainly was - thank you. Breakfast was tasty and served to order . Would have liked a selection of cheese, cold meats/fish with some salad sides as part of the selection .

All the staff we came across were very friendly and helpful. The building is beautiful and it’s no surprise that it’s grade 2 listed. We especially liked the entrance at what used to be the train station.

8/10 Very good

Only a one night stay and loved the Hotel. The only negative is the lift being out of order and the stairs were a struggle but we were offered use of the service lift but had to be accompanied by a member of staff which was fine but if the staff were busy we didn’t like to bother them so took the stairs (very slowly).
Jeffrey, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Nicely refurbished, clean, friendly helpful service. Reception and Breakfast restaurant especially helpful. Room small-ish, but well furnished, with mini-fridge, tv, great bath/shower. Would stay again.
Edward, 1-night trip

4/10 Fair

Nice old hotel, but uninviting bar and public areas, old room, hot (no A/C), toilet didn't work properly, not did the shower. Nice staff at front desk.

Great hotel for the city centre or the football ground
David, 1-night trip

Good place to stay

Good place to stay. The hotel is good. The bedrooms need updating, there are just a bit tired.
Richard, 3-night trip

8/10 Very good

An old Victorian Hotel, well worth a visit.

The staff at the Midland hotel are very friendly and helpful. I had an issue with noisy neighbours in an adjoining bedroom, this was pointed out to reception staff and we were moved to another room without a fuss. All the public rooms are from another era (Victorian times) so the hotel has an old feel but still modern where it needs to be. There is limited free parking on site (don't forget to put your registration number into the ipad at reception. Public rooms are kept to a high standard. The hotel location is just next to Forster Square railway station, so very handy for getting there.
Christina, 4-night trip

8/10 Very good

Spacious, comfortable, and functional room. Centrally located. Paint could be touched up in places, but doesn't detract from the positive experience.
