Porta di Castro Boutique Hotel & Spa
10/10 Excellent
"We loved the location, the staff and vibe of the hotel.
The breakfast was wonderful- quite the spread!
There is a pool but it was icy cold and not really usable so I would suggest heating the pool to make it nice for guests to use. "
"We stayed for 4 nights at the end of August into the beginning of September. The location of the hotel is perfect and during our time in Palermo, we kept saying that we couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in the city.
Both Via Roma and Via Maqueda are right by the hotel and offer tons of shopping, dining, and sight-seeing options. We tended to prefer Via Maqueda, but both will take you to the central station within a 25-30 minute walk. The hotel is also within a short walking distance of bus stops that can take you all around the city. Also, right by the hotel is probably the best sandwich shop in all of Palermo (A’ Putìa), which we definitely considered to be a major perk of its location.
The hotel's rooftop bar offers a cool view of the city, but the view from our room's balcony was perhaps even better! The hotel staff were lovely and even let us check out an hour later than the hotel's official time for free. If you are planning a stay in Palermo, we couldn't recommend this hotel enough!"
"Lena is the real star of this show! Her cute little face is there greet everyone. She even outshines the stunning view from the breakfast rooftop, which is tough competition. The owners are wonderful! They’re so kind and helpful! Their directions are clear, and we had a lovely stay. The woman who serves breakfast is also wonderful! We loved staying here. The location is great too. For those who struggle with steps or carrying luggage up multiple flights, you should stay elsewhere. Otherwise, stay here. "
"Excellent traditional European hotel with friendly, attentive staff
Complimentary full breakfast, served buffet style in the dining room was delicious, including fresh squeezed local orange juice that was amazing.
Very convenient location to sightseeing and restaurants. "
