Hotel staff is very friendly. The room is very spacious and we love the villa concept. Enjoyed the tatami and the bath tub. They have a common dining area for hotel guests to use and there are toys to borrow / bring up to the rooms. Highly recommend this place!

Gathering in Kyoto

The hotel is very unique. Speaking to the owner, he has a. Vision for community within his hotel and provides at least two spaces where guests can gather. There is a “living room” space with a large table and kitchen appliances for simple food prep and coffee and the Sora Skydeck (rooftop) lounge for relaxing under the stars. The room was able to accommodate our party of four comfortably and very clean. Staff is friendly. Great stay!

Aside from being a beautiful hotel, the staff and owner went above and beyond our expectations of hospitality. They were able to resolve issues (not created by them) and also very helpful with suggestions of places to visit and places to eat. The location of the hotel was very convenient since it’s close to the Kyoto station. Thank you again to the owner and amazing hotel staff, you made our Kyoto trip unforgettable!

Friendly and polite staff. Nice lobby with a family feel, including a small pantry. Roof floor is nice gathering place if weather is not too hot nor raining outside. Be cautious that hot water will stop if it's used more than 60 mins continuously. So stop hot water in bathroom right after use.

Hotel Imagine is so unique, exhibiting the owner's passion for detail. The room fit our family of four very comfortably and we loved the shower/ofuro which I enjoyed every night after a long day of walking and sightseeing! While there was no breakfast included, there is a full-service kitchen with great amenities. We made our breakfeast every morning and the coffee machine was wonderful! There was also a very nice upstairs deck which we were not able to enjoy since we were out sightseeing during the day and too tired to use during the night. We will definitely stay at Hotel Imagine again!

Of all the places we stayed on this trip, this was our family's favorite. The space was perfect for a family of four and we loved that the room got a lot of sunshine. We also appreciated the rooftop space for hanging out between excursions as well as for our morning cup of coffee. The lobby was also a great place to hang and it had a nice espresso machine and a place to cook simple meals. We made use of the easy to operate coin laundry which allowed us to bring less clothes to free up space for souvenirs. Getting places was also convenient since we were a 5 minute walk from the main train station as well as 5 minutes from the less crowded subway stop south of the hotel. The only word of warning is that this is a more traditional Japanese style room with futons and mattress on the floor, so no chairs to sit on but this is what made the room more comfy in my opinion. With that said, my wife made use of the lobby area tables to do a few business calls and it worked great. Finally, Yugo and Shin were very helpful answering any questions we had. We'd definitely come back to use this hotel as a home base to explore more of Kyoto.

Great hotel, conveniently close to Kyoto Station and Kujo station on the subway. Lots of restaurants around but it was quiet at night in the room. A Welcoming lobby with lots of thought gone into providing guests with things they might need and some kitchen facilities. Loved the loan of the kimono/dressing gowns. The room was spacious. My one complaint are the terrible pillows which are like bean bags! That’s why I’m giving it 4 stars not 5. If you can’t have a good night’s sleep because of terrible pillows, it sort of ruins your day so it’s quite a big deal for hotels to be thinking about getting right.

Fantastic hotel and a great way to experience Japanese living. Not quite what I would call a full ryokan, our room fortunately had it's own bathroom and tub, while still having the tatami matt floor and futons. I like the design of the hotel, the bedrooms and even the bathrooms. It’s very new and well designed. Half the room has a tatami with space for three futons, and the bathroom has a separate design so one area for toilet and one area for bath and shower that can be used separately. The staff it’s nice. No restaurant, but they have facilities for cooking, laundry, and movies. They also have a rooftop for when it’s not raining.
