Beautiful location with access to the lake walking path. We had a lakeview room on the 2nd floor with a balcony and view. Gorgeous! Short drive to downtown for lots of dining options, parking easy downtown.

Everything was immaculate, the staff were LOVELY, we needed to arrive late, the key was left where it was easily accessible, the light was on in our room, the two pools are stunning! We are hot pool people. Absolutely stunning. We stayed on the way down to Wellington, loved it so much we stayed on the way back up to Auckland. There are a LOT of choices in Taupo and this would be our pick, everytime.

Was a beautiful view from room, room was superb, just something to think about if you are upstairs is the light that was streaming through the glass panel next to door into room, was like day light all night until we both had had enough at 2am....and I needed to exit room and go to foyer and shut main door that was left open at top of stairs, shame really as we were exhausted from our travels and needed the sleep.

Our stay at the Reef was lovely. The location was great for us, and the view of the water from our room was a real treat. The staff were so kind and welcoming. I had breakfast in my room one of the mornings and it was exactly what I wanted and needed. We got an upgrade when we arrived - our room was HUGE. During the day, I didn’t find the room very quiet though. There was a lot of sound transfer from the lobby and from the pool area. I was worried at how this would impact the evening - but by night the room was quiet and there was no sound transfer at all. This wasn’t a negative - but just something to be aware of in case your expectations are silence. The pool and spa were both lovely - great after a long day hiking. We appreciated that laundry available for guest use. On a road trip across the north island, this was something we were looking for in a hotel - so we were grateful it was available. Overall, we had a great stay and would have no hesitations in recommending the Reef or staying here again.

Excellent and Friendly Serivces

The staff and reception are friendly. Check in is fast. We have 3 adults and 1 kid in my family. They offer us a free upgrade to a much larger and luxury room because they said the room we booked may be too small for 4 people. They are so kind and considerate.

The windows didnt shut!! All the rubbers were gone so had freezing cold winds blowing straight in, had the heat pump on but that wasnt warming the place up, was on top level room 12. The pillows were so massive it hurts your neck as they were hard as hell, so ended up using my jumper as a pillow.
