A great say.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Royal Lucern. Although not situated in the city center, it was quiet and convenient to get to. The check-in staff were very friendly. The breakfast very very good. The bathroom was spacious and very clean.

Loved this stay. Top notch and the entire family agreed. We had ages 19 to 75 and 3 rooms.

Living if the view

It was a nice room with a good bed. The entrance to the hotel tries to be very classy, but the service doesn't live up to the attempt. Service is not particularly good, we asked for more coffee pods but never received them. The main reason to get this hotel is the view from the balcony, which does make up for price and issue the hotel has.

We enjoyed our stay.

Good value.

A little way from the hub, but still well located, accessible by bus. Well appointed rooms. Staff friendly and good humour though seemed a little stretched at times, especially at breakfast to have enough food, crockery etc as needed. Overall good value for money.

Great staff and the rooms are nice and clean. The hotel does not have AC and it was a very hot week. It is also on a steep hill which may case problems for those with limited mobility
Mary, 3-night trip

This hotel is on the hillside and small room with almost no equipments to heat foods. Good view and that is all.

They just reopened a few days before we arrived, nice staff and very good location. 15 minutes walk to the old town, lots of restaurants nearby.

Really nice hotel with fantastic views. It’s a bit dated but that did not stop our enjoyment. The tiny balcony could just fit three people on. We had a triple room with a bathroom and it was nice. It’s about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the centre of the town and there is a little bit of a hill towards the end but again no big issue and I don’t think even someone with mobility problems would have any issues here. The one thing that we had a bit of a smile about was we were one hour before the check-in time and they asked if we wanted to pay for an early check in for 30CHF which seemed a bit much. We declined.

The hotel is clean and has a great views, but their front desk staff makes it exceptional! Very friendly and eager to help, took time to explain the navigation and gave restaurant suggestions.

Fabulous service and views.

From check-in and throughout the whole stay the service was excellent, friendly and attentive but without being overbearing. The views over the town and lake were wonderful, both from our room and the public terrace. It is walkable from the train station but be aware it is up quite a steep hill so using a taxi to get there may be useful, though consider Uber as they're half the price of the regular taxis. Location is great for getting around Lucerne with public transport a short 5-minute walk from the main road at the bottom of the hill from the hotel. Room was large, comfortable and clean but oddly ours didn't have a wardrobe and just 3 wall hooks, which wasn't a problem for us as only there 2 nights but maybe something worth checking if staying there longer and need wardrobe space.

This property was only a few blocks off the man tourist route but was quiet and relaxing. Best beds of six hotels during our trip. We loved the helpful service provided by the front desk clerk Adrian. It was nice to return to the scenic view from the veranda after a day of sightseeing.

Very nice hotel facing the lake. Comfortable bed. Clean. Breakfast a little expensive for continental breakfast. Staffs are very friendly and helpful.

Absolutely lovely lake views from the front facing rooms. The hotel has a simple business model (light on staff, no cooked meals, no room service ) which makes it an excellent choice if looking for an affordable but special place to stay. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful.

The desk, when he heard us discussing how nice a glass of wine, offered to open the bar and provided us both wine and beer. The staff was very welcoming and supportive. Also, the facility, while very “experienced” was very well maintained. Great view from the individual patio,

Very nice old building, well maintained. Beautiful balcony view overlooking the lake and city. Staff very helpful and friendly. Cost to park vehicle very expensive.

8/10 Very good

An awesome hotel, great location, great staff that were so helpful. Two things I actually take the blame on missing would be no air conditioning and I thought when the listing had bed and breakfast and showed a dining area that looked to be set up for breakfast that they would offer breakfast…at least more than a croissant and espresso. They were good yes but was hoping for a more substantial breakfast even for a cost. Perhaps fans in the rooms?

2/10 Poor

check-in July 12 - 1 night stay - Nothing Royal - just the name - despite a great location and the kindless of Director who tried his best to accommodate our stay - we re-packed and left hotel after 1 hour - I surely waisted $ 270.00 but life is too short for a bad sleep - Property is in poor condition in need of major renovation - you can hear people next door (room) coughing talking even farting - it is unfortunate for the staff who is actually doing a great job - I was told that I would be contacted by upper Management - as of today ... no news. Life goes on : ) - I hope this info is useful for anyone planning trip to Beautiful Lucerne - Best, Alain

6/10 Good

Overall we had a fine stay here. There are few things to note before booking that we wish we knew. Firstly the property is up a hill and about 7 min walk from the bus stop. In the heat it’s not the easiest walk (especially with luggage). The property is quite old, there is no air conditioning, and it seems no updates have been done since original construction. Our room was small and without basic amenities we expected for the price (no fridge, coffee/tea, safe for belongings). The bed and pillows were not comfortable. The walls are thin and you can hear everything happening in the hall and neighbouring rooms. The one upside was the staff were very nice and accommodating. Thankfully they were able to find us a fan for the room given the extreme heat. We would not be keen to stay here again but if you are low maintenance it would probably be fine for a short stay.

Leider war das Zimmer stark renovierungs bedürftig (Schimmel, verfaulte Unterseite der Badezimmertür…). Das Personal war sehr freundlich
Hans, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Expensive for a place, the booking advertise for lake view price , but in the hotel the charge extra 30 CHF for what was booked , the room has no AC , but poor small fan, no safety lock box not enough to make room temperature acceptable to avoid sweating, no small refrigerator in room unless you request and will take time to bring one. The room has only 2 electric power outlet source not enough to connect a coffee maker (to see if it’s working or not) and connect the refrigerator and connect the fan or to connect to plug transformers for 2 cells phone chargers . So the customer service brought several extension cord and coord were running in the floor and the client has to move carefully in the room to avoid cord a tangling around his feet!!! . The place is unique in not having the basic equipments of a regular third class hotel, the provide with 2 separate keys with no way to attach to your pocket and easy to loose and Charge you extra money for lost key . It was a very bad disappointing experience that created a lost of discomfort and distress to me and my wife. The only acceptable service was the breakfast
