Stayed at this candlewood suites as we had an event to attend in Hartford at 4pm. We arrived at the hotel at 3:15 to drop off or bags, use the bathroom, then drive the 20 minutes to Hartford. Check in was fine until we got to the room. House cleaning was working on the room that looked like someone had been living in it for months. Dirty clothes and trash were strewn about. So we went back to the front desk to ask for a different room and were told that, "we're sold out and we can't even juggle rooms. You'll have to wait." So, we graciously said "OK" and went to a nearby store to pick up a few things. We can't back at 4pm (already late to our event, mind you) and went back to the room to see it was still being worked on. Now we're angry. Beck to the front desk where we basically had to tell the clerk what to do (find a room that hasn't been checked into yet, give us that one, let the next people have the room that wasn't ready yet). After pulling teeth, we got a room finally, dropped our bags and went to our event, an hour late. If we hadn't told the am check what to do, we'd probably still be waiting for a room the next day. They made no effort to accommodate us and I'm actively investigating a refund due to the poor customer service.
