Worn down and dirty.

Bed sheets had dark stains, no towels, everything was worn down and the heater was running all night despite being turned completely off and it being 26 degrees outside. Will NOT return.

Hard to sleep

Not great when you want to sleep because people are so loud when they come back late at night, slamming doors, banging and talking loudly at 3am. Didn't sleep much.

Amazing

I highly recommend this place. Amazing experience, got a free upgrade to the main hotel . The breakfast is affordable and a lot to choose from. Very friendly and helpful staff. I have no complains at all and I will gladly book them again.

In the toilet, there was lots of urin smell. There is no air conditioner, which means it is not good for the hot summer season. I had good experience at a&o hostel in other cities, such as Cologne and so on, but unfortunately in Hamburg I had the first bad experience.

Good value, paid $21 plus 0.76 cent at the spot. Warning must have a valid debit and credit card. For anyone seeking to run a proper hostel, check out this chain. They know what they are doing! I checked out late, no one gave me a hazzle. Will for sure stay again despite no queen bed or room service

Great for large groups sharing at a low price.

Me and a group of friends shared a 6 bed dorm for 3 nights. The room was not very big but it had everything that we needed. The beds were comfortable. The USB ports on the beds didn’t seem to work but we just used the power outlets instead so that wasn’t a huge issue. There were lockers in the room which can be used if you bring your own padlock. The bathroom was clean. We did have an issue with a broken toilet seat but we told the front desk and they fixed it immediately without issue. The location is great and it’s easy enough to navigate the city from this location. Overall I think it was great for the price we paid.

Will not stay here again even it is not expensive

I don't like to leave negative review, but this is the worst hostel among the hostels I stayed in Europe, second worst in the world. A roommate who shared the same room told me it was his worst hostel he ever stayed. The manager Joseph was not nice. He talked like a grumpy commander instead of as a host. Check-in was very slow. Dirty room. I have never seen any hotel or hostel took such a long time to check in each guest. It was a chaos, over 20 people waiting in the line to check in. When booking, I left a message to ask for a lower bed because my right leg has a problem, they still assigned me to an upper bed. But that bed was occupied by another guest already, actually the bed below was empty. I had to go back to the reception to ask them to assign me to the empty bed. The floor was dirty. The sink by the shower drained very slowly. I will not stay here again even it is not expensive.

Overall, my stay was good. My room and the common areas were rather chilly, probably owing to the loss of natural gas from Russia, but the situation did not cause any concern for me. My room and the common areas were clean, but the elevators could use some cleaning. The breakfast buffet provides a good selection. The property is within walking distance of the Hamburg Hbf and a U-Bahn station, making driving unnecessary.

A bit too expensive in regard to what you get

Our stay was okay. The bed was a little too hard, and no air conditioning. It is a budget hotel and I would expect it to be a bit cheaper.

At check in I had to pay extra cost int the name of "Local taxes" however it was already added to my final payment. The room faced to the main road so it was noisy, however it was cosy. Breakfast was good.

I changed the sheets of my bed myself. So I touched the dirt of another person. The toilet was very dirty the shower very dirty with lots of hair everywhere

The receptionist charged me a wrong booking, and while they said they’d fix it, they still charged me, and I have not been able to get in touch with anyone helpful despite calling several a&o numbers and emailing several emails the past 3 days. The current situation is the hostel scammed me 300 euro..

Unterkunft ist ok, aber buchen wir nie wieder

Um 23 Uhr ankommend, müde von der Reise, erfahren wir, dass das Hostel überbucht ist & wir daher in ein anderes Hostel untergebracht werden. Nach einem mühsamen hin- & her werden Taxis geordert. Das erste ist zu klein für 5 mit Gepäck. Anschl. werden 2 bestellt. Zahlen müssen wir es selber & können im neuen Hostel die Rückerstattung anfragen.. schlussendlich erreichen wir die Unterkunft weit nach 24 Uhr. Da passt dann alles.. Wir werden das a&o in Zukunft aber meiden. Zu mühsam und unprofessionell war diese Episode gehandelt.
