Overall, this was a very bad experience. Between the bugs, the dirty furniture, the smoke odor, and the uncomfortable bedding, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. I want Orbitz and future guests to be aware of this situation, because travelers deserve safe, clean accommodations — and this hotel did not provide that.
I have to say, when it comes to rating this hotel, my experience was not good — it was bad. Upon arrival, I had booked a king suite, but the desk clerk, after seeing me with my walking cane, mentioned that my assigned room was on the second floor and asked if I’d be able to handle the stairs. I told her no, so she switched me to a first-floor smoking room, which was already not what I booked.
The moment I opened the door, I was hit with a thick, lingering smell of smoke. While looking around, I saw a large brown water bug (some would call it a cockroach) crawling on the wall. After killing it, I noticed more bugs outside the doorway.
The room itself was in very poor condition:
• My blanket had 3–4 holes, each about the size of a quarter.
• The carpet was sticky, like it had not been cleaned properly in a long time.
• The chair was visibly dirty and dingy.
• Worst of all, I woke up with 15 bite marks that I believe came from a brown recluse.
