Lovely hotel.

Nice location. Friendly staff. Main Reception guy was really helpful. Young lad at breakfast was polite and always had time to help. Barman was nice and polite and even gave us glass for the room.

Not great

I only stayed for the night, but hardly got any sleep. The room was not very clean, there was a dead spider on the carpet & the Bathroom smelt musty? The room was extremely cold, & there was a banging window / door from somewhere else in the building throughout the night. On top of this the TV did not work. The whole hotel is really due a refresh - lots of chipped paint & out of date decor.

8/10 Very good

Lovely property. Very well placed for the castle and minister. Good bars and restaurants. Loo seat downstairs needs fixing. No where to park . Mangled it over the road. Very clean and nice decor. Good value for money. When phoning owner was very helpful.

Okay needs investing

We had a good time, staff where polite are areas of concern where the place feels alittle worn, rusty bath plug shower head leaking stains of carpet leading to the room and cobwebs on windows, it felt the place needs a little TLC to bring it up to a higher level , staff where fine the waitress at the evening meal had a lovely smile the others just did the job.

Hotel with leisure centre

Have stayed here a few times before. On check-in we saw a notice to say the pool etc was not available however the fault was rectified quicker than anticipated so we were happy. Room was clean and spacious with a comfy bed. Would recommend and stay again.

Average

This hotel felt quite tired and in need of a lift. The swimming pool was an extra cost. The room was noisy from other guests.
Gary, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Mixed experience but enjoyable overall

Sprawling hotel lacking modernity. But comfortable and great staff. Excellent dinner in the Brasserie and swim in the pool, which was lovely and clean but an extra fiver which was not advertised on the website. My room was ok, but looked out over dirty linen bins at the back of the hotel.
Veronica, 1-night trip

Reception especially helpful to me as a wheelchair user. Thank you
Lawrence, 1-night trip

Convenient location

Better than last time. New owners, staff very friendly and efficient. Breakfast hot and fresh. Had 1 meal during 2 night stay. Better than expected! Hotel is tired, needs a refurbishment. Good location. Plenty of free parking. Didn’t use leisure facilities, have to pay extra £5 to use pool! Can only get better, would stay again if in area
Gareth, 2-night trip

Excellent young man on reception. Thank you.
Michael, 1-night trip

4/10 Fair

It was ok but nothing special considering its location and how good it could be. Needs some investment and definitely more staff to make it eork better. A place that size shouldn't be run with a handful of staff but then again i suppose thats the sign of the times.
William, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Hidden costs and very tired looking

This was our 5th stay at the hotel, one if the attractions is the indoor pool & spa facilities, but they now charge £5 per head per night which is not made clear on their website or when booking. The room was just to say warm, but you couldn't turn the heating up at all, it was on full. Also now looking very worn and tired, probably because of the times it has changed ownership. This will be our last stay.
Paul, 1-night trip

Excellent service.

Excellent service Nice hotel. We were in old part. A little run down but acceptable. Food and bars were good. Nice walks. Was a shock seeing casualty filming ! We left our headphones. Phoned the hotel two weeks later and they sent them too us ! Excellent service.
Daniel, 1-night trip

4/10 Fair

Understaffed, room was executive but very small, faulty appliances, rotten windows, bed head board was right next to window, site was very rough £3 for a packet of crisps, fallen from grace
James, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Booked this hotel as was near west midland safari park - when we arrived there was a massive firework display/ music that wasn’t mentioned on the website when booking / had to move rooms because of the noise with our 1 year old - went to use the pool the next day, was so cold - the heater had not been switched on so we could only stay in 5 - 10 minutes but was still charged full price..
Natalie, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Old manor house that has been renovated internally. Only disadvantage was that there was no lift - not a problem for us but might have affected a disabled person
Cheryl, 2-night trip

4/10 Fair

We stayed for one night, the room wasn’t very clean and the beds were so uncomfortable. It was also way to hot in the room with very little ventilation.
