The personal was friendly, the breakfast good. The room was a bit small but okay. There were several rooms for relaxing what was great. The hostel was next to the Kungsleden hiking way and to the Torneträsk lake (great view!) what was great.

Abisko Turiststation is the perfect place to stay during your visit to Abisko. The property has accommodation types for all budgets and is very clean and well kept. The two restaurants are perfect and the staff were easily available and very helpful. The hotel is within easy walking distance of many hiking and cross country skiing trails and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Abisko National Park. The train station is just next door - an easy walk even with luggage - and tour operators will pick you up directly from the turiststation. If you’re here in winter, you can view the northern lights from just behind the hotel, with gorgeous views of a lake and nearby mountains. I had a perfect experience, would absolutely come back!

Warm welcome in the Artic

Very well run retreat into nature. The front desk staff was amazingly patient and caring; dealing with clients from many countries with different expectations. There is no TV - yeah! - or piped music so it is very relaxing. The sauna was great. Beds comfortable. The location is great and again, the staff is great.

Perfect place to stay in Abisko

Abisko Turiststation STF is a great place to stay. It's located close to the train station and offers a variety of rooms from hotel, to hostel, to cabins. We stayed in one of the cabins and it was perfect for us. The one item I will note is that you need to ethier bring your own sheets/sleeping bag or you can rent linnens from the hotel (much like a hostel). I am glad I reached out to them before we arrived so they could inform me of this as it doesn't seem to be listed on hotels.com. Otherwise, this hotel is great, most of the activities pick up at this location. The only other item to note is that this is not in Abisko proper. So if you need to get food from a grocery store, you should bring it with you or plan to walk to the store as there are limited transportation options once you arrive.

The only reason why I would book this accommodation is because close to the start of Kungsleden trail, there aren't many other options. The staff especially was not only unfriendly, but also extremely unhelpful. Also from one day to another, the price for breakfast just went up. When I pointed this out, the only comment I got was: "oh yes, we just increased the price today".

Beyond expectations

This is a stay to be experienced. We stayed in the hotel room (not the hostel). First off , the restaurant is amazing( good and views and especially the staff) . Lots of options even for those with different food allergies and sensitivities. This is a high quality buffet with ginger turmeric shots as well. Lunch buffet was different daily and we waiting for it to be lunch time . For dinner there is also a bistro. The kitchen in the hostel is huge and very clean. Has microwaves and refrigerators as well as 4 cooing ranges each with 4 stove tops. Huge dining area. Several reading and sitting areas all around with great views. The rental shop had everything. the tours usually start from here. The hotel offers its own tours as well.

My room had ventilation right under the window which made it hard to sleep due to the noise. I discovered it 2 hours after check in, trying to take a nap before heading out for aurora hunting. At 5pm I told the reception, who said there’s nothing the could do as there were no other available rooms. Later that night I was coming back and noticed a box with drop-in envelopes, one of which was for another room same price category as mine, which were left in case someone showed up after hours without a reservation. So there were rooms, but they didn’t want to move me and just lied to my face. It is probably just one room like that (other windows next to the vent are some sort of storage), but unless you fancy paying this much to listen to industrial noises in the middle of national park, avoid that room. Generally, their prices and lack of service are due to the fact that there are almost no other options around and place is super popular. Doesn’t make it okay.

Outstanding location, expensive venue.

Let me start by saying this is an amazing location and well worth a visit. However, we stayed in a premium room, which was more expensive than our 4 star hotel in Kiruna, but nowhere near the same quality. Nevertheless, as everyone else has previously, we overlooked this due to the amazing location. We were unable to book in the restaurant for the three nights we were there and ate in the bistro once as the menu never changed burger, pizzas or salad. This venue is also far more expensive than other parts of Sweden.

Hit åker man för omgivningen och bra mat. Rummen är enkla och lite gamla. Vill du hänga på rummet så är det fel boende och destination. Det har dock en charm med det gamla och den gör sig absolut bäst i härliga gemensamhetsutrymmen.
