10/10 Exceptional

Everything about our stay was impeccable! The gardens were absolutely magnificent, the house was beautifully decorated. It was such a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. Our host was truly exceptional- warm and attentive, making us feel right at home. We enjoyed the house so much that we actually canceled our plans to visit the local attractions just to spend more time relaxing in the wonderful rooms and soaking in the serene setting.

This was a beautiful property. The gardens were some of the best we have seen and the home was like staying in a museum but warm and cozy. My wife kept giggling like Elizabeth when she went to Mr Darcy’s home in Pride and Prejudice. It really was splendid around every corner of the house. Michael made sure we had a great dinner reservation as well. Our best stay in all of Ireland.

Superb atmosphere, furnishings and period pieces. First class breakfast and rooms were beautifullly decorated. Owner Michael was a perfect host and provided great information and support. My highest recommendation.

10/10 Exceptional

The property was lovely and unique, dating back to the 1700s, and totally renovated by the owners. The decor was exquisite and carefully planned to reflect the time period. The owner was congenial, helpful and informative. We were offered tea and cake upon arrival and an amazing breakfast in the morning!

True "old world charm" in a fairytale garden setting. Michael couldn't have been more helpful and even made sure we were out the door on time for our Newgrange tour. Wish that we could have stayed longer. AWESOME breakfast!

6/10 Good

The good, the bad and the ugly

The good, the bad and the ugly. First the good. Charming hosting quirky rooms full of period furniture. The bad…. Missing some minor amenities such as tissues in the room and tea maker and maybe fur some bad as no tv. Ugly … the quality of mattress and sleep was appalling . Thin worn out mattress and foam pillows meant very disturbed sleep.

Living Irish history at the Collon House

If one wants to be immersed in a historic house and intimate beautiful garden setting, Collon House will not disappoint. The host was gracious and welcoming, sending us off with an excellent full Irish breakfast. The location is perfect for exploring NewGrange and the Boyne River Valley.

Incredible historic house

Collin House has been restored to an incredible standard. Such a historic home and obviously well loved. We loved the stay and Michael couldn't have been more hospitable and helpful. When we are in the area again we will definitely be visiting again

Great airy, well-furnished historic rooms. Lovely gardens. Gracious and accommodating host. Breakfast could not have been better; served in early 19th century setting.

8/10 Very good

We stayed one night just before leaving Ireland, coming down from Belfast. We didn't really get to spend much time in Collon, but the proprietor was super friendly, helpful in terms of tips (getting gas for the rental ahead of the airport for example) and gave us a great breakfast ahead of our travel day when it worked for us. The room was huge, too and the bed was cozy. It was a nice change after a week in hotels!

One of the best places I’ve ever stayed. If you want to feel as if you are living in the 18th c but with the modern amenities of plumbing electric and heating, this is the place. The owner Michael was extraordinarily hospitable, even serving us tea in the splendid drawing room. It was a real treat to stay at Collin House.

Staying here was an delightful experience. You are in a grand house that was built in 1740 and has been beautifully and lovingly restored. Michael is the proprietor and is very friendly and easy to talk to. The gardens are lovely and there are several restaurants within easy walking distance of this charming small town. Highly recommend.
