Magnificent, beautiful historic hotel!

I have stayed in this beautiful historic hotel several times over the years. This was my first stay since here since 2016. I was upgraded to a very large suite. The suite was very large, quiet, private and clean. I slept great! The mini bar refrigerator was not cooling (I did not report it until departure) and it was impossible to use the shower without water going onto the bathroom floor. Those are my only complaints. The hotel, overall, was very quiet. I do not know the current occupancy, but the grand salon was generally empty.

It is a beautiful and elegant hotel. Salvatore, the concierge, makes you feel as though you are the only guest in the hotel. He chose wonderful restaurants for us and was attentive to our every need. All the staff went out of their way to make our stay perfect.

While this hotel definitely needs a major facelift, it’s full of charm. The staff is very attentive and they breakfast is lavish set in a sumptuous environment. The best part is undoubtedly the terraces overlooking Roman rooftops. The rooftop bar is opening on June 15!

The Grand Plaza Hotel been around for many years. Its dark but lots of arts and marble. We reserve a Delx room. The bathroom was remodeled but didn't have a shower only bath tub. The cabinets & furniture are very old. The beds are very cheap and extremely uncomfortable. Its like sleeping on springs. The mattress was very cheap, and the springs was very hard. The front desk service are extremely helpful and willing to assist.

First room the gave us had no shower, 2nd room no coffee maker or snacks in mini bar and the shower was broken it would wet the entire bathroom. They tried fixing it but, did not. Roof top bar closed and in disrepair. Repair personnel working throughout the property. The hotel is beautiful but, needs major upgrades throughout.

Had a great stay. I stayed at this hotel 7 years ago and had a good experience once again. The property and its history itself is wonderful. The service was very kind and helpful everyday. Furnitures in the lobby was outdated, and the room felt kind of outdated aswell with some sloppy fixes in the bathroom. But had an overall good stay. Good value for the money imo.

Desde o check in até o último momento da estadia o Grand Plaza não se cansou de nos decepcionar. Já no primeiro atendimento da recepção, fomos cinicamente conduzidos a um quarto de categoria inferior ao que tínhamos acertado. Os atendentes, debochados e desleixados, demoraram horas para finalmente nos acomodar corretamente. Este péssimo padrão de atendimento, serviço e limpeza se manteve ao longo de toda estadia.

Hotellet ligger super godt, men det er slidt ned til sokkeholderne. Smukke store lokaler men der kommer ikke noget dagslys ind. Deres terrasser som hotels.com fremhæver er fuldstændig ubrugelige. Den ene var helt lukket og den anden var helt overgrowt og fuld af små dyr. Og ingen betjening. Deres bar var urimelig dyr og havde besøg af andre let levende damer.

Hotellet är en romantisk dröm, byggt 1860. Balsalen och restaurangen är orörd men omhändertagen. Det är som att kliva in i ett slott! Servicen är rörig minst sagt, vet ej om det är fel på personal eller management. Dålig städning av rum och altan. Dålig påfyllning av vatten, kaffe, kaffe-mjölk. TV kanaler finns hundratals på italienska utan engelsk textning och det finns endast ett fåtal engelsktalande nyhetskanaler. Aircondition funkar bra och känns ren. Personalen är ändå väldigt trevlig och tillmötesgående. Detta hotell skulle lätt kunna lyfta sig med rätt styrning av personalen. Jag ger 3,5 stjärnor av 5 möjliga för helhetsbilden. Frukosten får 5 stjärnor. Läget i staden får 5 stjärnor, gångavstånd till det mesta!

How did it get a 4-5star rating? This is a 1 star.

This hotel was the worst I’ve ever stayed in in terms of comfort and service. We arrived with lots of bags and no greeting or baggage assistance outside. The inside is extremely tired and old and dark and smells of mold. Our room was at the end of a long corridor which smelled so bad that I had to hold my breath. The room was very large and had two terraces. The room was photographed in a way that it appeared quite lovely. However, the terraces were dirty with dust and dirt and bird droppings. The cushions were dirty. Perhaps the worst thing about the room was the bed. It was extremely large, but was simply a thin mattress on top of what seem to be an army cot. Absolutely no support. Everytime someone moved in the bed. it squeaked so loudly the other person would wake up. I began to sleep with my head where the feet were supposed to be because it seemed to squeak less The sheets were polyester and so scratchy I had to wear socks in the bed. The pillows were not unlike pieces of wood with a pillowcase. They were so hard it was nearly impossible to sleep. The shower was so complicated with yesterday‘s technology that it took two of us to figure out how to make it work. The technology included a radio in the shower, which gives some idea of how old it was. The breakfast room was equally terrible. It was obviously at one time very elegant but that was at least 100 years ago. It was dark and it smelled bad and seemed to be dirty. The breakfast offerings were not appetizing.
