Beautiful small town with port and churches

Found this quiet beautiful town when rearranging my trip and enjoyed a beautiful sunny day and walk on the cliffs nearby. Quaint and beautiful area (looks different in bad weather though). Very friendly staff. Small room with nice view. Church within hotel with some history.

We drove west and south Iceland in September. We stayed at 7 different hotels during the trip. Diana & Daniel from the reception of Hotel Fransiskus are the only ones replied my special requests regarding room selection. Staff are friendly. Breakfast has plenty of selections. Parking lots are below the building. You need to walk up a bit, but not difficult.

We stayed in a family room for 4 and it was perfect. The beds were all proper beds and this being our 4th night in Iceland, it was the most comfortable by far. The room was clean and spacious. Kettle could be requested at the front desk. Had the view of the harbour from the room and what a lovely sunset view Grear location with short walk to the harbour. Will definitely recommend this great hotel.

6/10 Good

We did not like the hotel locating next to the hospital and the hotel was renovated from a church. We felt uncomfortable . The bed was good and clean and the room was bright.

Wonderful room overlooking the harbor

What a great stay! Three nights staying here as we explored Snaefellsnes and West Fjords. Beautifully furnished room with three windows overlooking the harbor. Walking distance to the three restaurants in town and a nice bakery. Great breakfast and pleasant, helpful staff.

Quaint hotel with strange character

This was a great little hotel on the hill of a small quaint adorable town. The rooms were small, but they were comfortable for 2 people. Located within walking distance to anything you'd want from the town. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. This hotel is definitely a little different. It used to be a convent for nuns as it sits right next to the towns hospital. The rooms and hallways feel like it. But, it was cheaper than the Foss Hotel down the road and was comfortable enough for a 1 night stay. The breakfast in the morning was a little strange, but it did the job as there wasn't much else in town open to eat at the time. Would highly recommend if you're just stopping in town for a night! Clean and friendly and good value.

Stay here!

Daniel was very helpful with dinner reservations as well as info about the hotel and living as a foreigner in Iceland. Rooms were comfy, breakfast was good. Nearby restaurant that begins with Nar was wonderful, one of two restaurants we really enjoyed on our ten-day visit in Iceland.

Quaint hotel overlooking the coastal city. Great food options walking distance. Property itself was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully decorated. Huge spread for breakfast even though we were one of the few guests that night (off-season). There is a church at the center of the hotel as well.

Breakfast hit or miss but fills you up. Clean and kind. Would still stay again regardless.

Great hotel - but make a restaurant reservation

Although the combination of hotel, church and hospital in the same building seems strange, this is a very nice place. The rooms appear newly refurbished and very nice. Some of the rooms have a good view over the harbour. The breakfast is also well supplied and with service. There is, however, no dinner restaurant in the hotel, and since the restaurants in Stykkisholmur are very small, they were all occupied, so I recommend that you make a dinner reservation in advance.

It is a nice quiet hotel next to the harbor. Rooms small but nice warm and clean. Common area is decorated by love. Great lookout and backyard for the Northern light. Our night there was so peaceful and lovely. Breakfast is nice. Refill comes consistently. Nothing to complain about.

10/10 Exceptional

I wish we had spent more than one night at this property. The staff was so friendly and helpful. I don't remember the name of the front desk person but she was from Poland and so very nice! Parking at the hotel is limited but very convenient. Our room was clean and comfortable, and because the hotel is so close to the water, we could hear the waves crashing at night. Breakfast was delicious and you could tell that the woman in charge of the breakfast area took pride in her work. The town is pretty small so we were able to walk to most places from the hotel very easily. It's a perfect place to stay if you're spending a day or two touring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, Very close to Kirkjufell and other sites on the Peninsula.
