Tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains, this small town offers a perfect blend of outdoor adventure and sophisticated charm. Main Street beckons with art galleries and boutiques where shopkeepers remember your name. Waterfalls cascade throughout the area – don't miss Dry Falls, where walking behind the thundering water leaves you mysteriously dry. The Bascom Center showcases mountain artistry in a stunning barn-like setting. Autumn brings a fiery display of foliage that draws photographers to Whiteside Mountain's dramatic cliffs. Even in summer, pack a sweater for cool evenings on restaurant patios. Locals recommend hiking the Chattooga River trails before rewarding yourself with farm-to-table dining where chefs transform Appalachian ingredients into culinary magic.

The ride from Franklin, NC to Highlands, NC, Highway-64, is an absolutely amazing drive. Offering ridge line views and multiple waterfalls. Most of the waterfalls are visible from the side of the road. If your a fan of waterfalls, like me, this area has a high concentration of large beautiful waterfalls and is worth the drive.
