Santo Domingo is a vibrant city worth exploring. For anyone visiting for the first time, just beware that traffic in the city is very hectic and somewhat unsafe. I suggest staying within the Zona Colonial area, it is pedestrian-friendly and lively.

I have traveled to quite a few Caribbean and Latin American countries, but Santo Domingo is the first that I have made a return trip too. There is something special about this place that makes me want to visit and explore more.

Traffic is terrible, every second frustrated drivers blowing their horns. 90% of the Colonial area is under construction until sometime in 2025. But the buzz of the city still attracts me x

Santo Domingo's traffic sucks, but being from a big city that also has alot of traffic its to be expected. Otherwise it's a nice well developed city with so much stuff to do

The area is a tourist hotspot so you get a lot of vendors associated with that. Prices also reflect the area. This was expected and not a problem

"A very picturesque place to stay. The small balconies are nice for people watching. Staff was nice enough to give me a super late checkout to coincide with my next hotel check in. All the staff was great and spoke pretty good English. Area is very safe if anyone is wondering. Just watch out for the motorbikes. The room was a bit small. Also, the hot water didnt last long or get very warm"
